Parking Spaces for Cars on Campus

As of February 19, 2026, parking decks P1 through P7 are closed due to renovation work. Please use the free East (P20) and West (P12/P13) parking garages.

The central underground parking garage is located beneath the campus and can be accessed via the “Uni-Mitte” exit. It offers parking spaces on several levels (P8 through P9).

Please note the maximum clearance height of 1.95 m.

The East Parking Garage (P20) is located on the eastern side of the campus, adjacent to Am Hochschulcampus and Oststraße, and can be reached via the "Uni-Mitte" exit (and then continuing on I-Südstraße) or the "Hustadt" exit, following Schattbachstraße to Am Hochschulcampus.

Parking garages P12 and P13 are located on the west side of the campus on Max-Imdahl-Straße and can be accessed via the "Uni-West" or "Uni-Mitte" exits (and then continuing along M-Nordstraße).

• The visitor parking lot (PB) is located on I-Nordstraße and can be reached via the "Bochum-Hustadt" exit.
• Keep to the right and turn onto Schattbachstraße toward the University of Bochum. Follow Schattbachstraße to the end, then turn right onto Am Hochschulcampus.
• At the end of the street, turn right at the intersection and follow Oststraße, then I-Nordstraße, until the end of the road. The visitor parking lot is located on the left, next to Building IA.
• To enter, ring the bell at the gate and let us know the reason for your visit and your RUB contact person.

Due to renovation work in the central parking garage, parking lots P1 through P3 will be closed to employees until spring 2028. Employees are advised to use the free East (P20) and West (P12/P13) parking garages.

The women’s parking spaces are currently located beneath the SSC building. A parking key is required to use the women’s parking spaces. All women working at Ruhr University are eligible for a parking key.

How do I get a parking key?

• Employees can apply for a parking key using the parking key application form (available via the service portal after logging in).
• Students can purchase a parking key at the Copy Center in the SSC (Room 01/219).

Personal Parking Spaces

Under certain conditions, employees and students with an employment contract (WHK, SHK, student employees under the TV-L collective bargaining agreement) are entitled to a designated personal parking space for people with disabilities, located near their workplace or a heavily frequented building and marked with a sign (wheelchair symbol and personal license plate number).
